Raging Rhino Ultra Review

While some fans of the original game might rejoice over yet another trip to the african savannah, WMS has brought very little innovation to the table this time. We already have a fixed jackpot version with a stronger math model, and at least the Megaways version stood out because of the popular engine. It seems that WMS is running out of ideas with this one.

Raging Rhino Ultra comes across as a somewhat cheap follow-up title. The only thing that separates it from the first game, is the possibility of landing 3 different progressive jackpots. The volatility is a bit more rounded here also, but lengthy bonus round sessions can easily deliver measly total payouts. In our view, the Rampage fixed jackpot version is still the best, and we can’t see this Ultra version dethroning it in any way, shape or form.

Raging Rhino Ultra Features

The african savannah tree silhouetted by the sun is the wild symbol here, and it can land on reels 2 to 5 only. It does not come with a value of its own, but it will step in for all regular pay symbols to help you form winning combos.

The diamond symbol is the scatter, and it can land on all 6 of the reels. You will get 8, 15, 20 or 50 free spins when you land 3, 4, 5 or 6 scatters, respectively. You will also be granted a scatter win before the feature plays out. 3, 4, 5 or 6 scatters lands you 2x, 10x, 50x or 1,000x your total stake.

You will benefit from multiplier wilds of either 2x or 3x during the bonus round, and multiple wilds included in one win will accumulate to give you a bigger boost. You will get 5 extra spins when you land 2 diamond scatters on a free spin, and you can also land 3 to 6 scatters to get up to 50 extra spins here.

A bonus round guarantee kicks in if you don’t win more than 10x from the initial scatter win and the bonus round combined. This means that you will always win 10x when you trigger the bonus round, and the max win is capped at £250,000.

Mega Drop progressive jackpots

The Mega Drop feature can be triggered on any given spin, and this will land you 1 of the 3 jackpots.

These are the Minor, Major or Epic jackpots, and you can increase your winning chances by playing with higher stakes. All 3 jackpots are progressive, and must be won before they reach a given amount.

The 200 Spins Raging Rhino Ultra Experience

Nothing much happened until we triggered the bonus round at 0:22 into the video. We kept piling on a new set of 5 free spins like there was no tomorrow. However, you’ll have to see for yourself if our winnings kept up with the insane number of extra spins we got.

Review Summary

Raging Rhino was a big hit when it was first released, and WMS has been trying to milk their success for all it’s worth. The Rampage version comes with fixed jackpots, and the big difference in this Ultra version are the 3 progressive jackpots. Getting extra spins in the bonus round seems easy enough, but after almost 40 spins we were left with an insignificant total win.

This, of course, can be chalked up as a coincidence, but it still feels a bit pointless to be able to get extra spins so easily, while hardly winning anything with them. Raging Rhino Ultra feels a bit forced to be honest, and we hope WMS either puts their series to rest with this version, or totally reinvent it with something brand new next time.

Pros

  • Scatter wins up to 1,000x
  • Bonus round with plenty of extra spins
  • Medium volatility and £250,000 max win potential
  • 3 different progressive jackpots

Cons

  • Does little to bring the series forward

If you love Raging Rhino Ultra you should also try:

Raging Rhino - is the original WMS title that started it all back in 2015, and it plays out on 6 reels with 4,096 win ways. You can get up to 50 free spins here too, and the bonus round comes with 2x and 3x multiplier wilds.

Raging Rhino Megaways - is a bigger and bolder version of the original game, and it comes with up to 117,649 ways to win.

You will benefit from Cascading wins, as well as a bonus round with progressive multiplier wilds up to 5x.

Raging Rhino Rampage - is another jackpot version of the WMS hit game, but this one offers fixed jackpots only. Surprisingly, it offers up to 262,144 win ways, which far exceeds the megaways version. The biggest jackpot you can land is 2,500x, but the overall max win is 12,500x your stake.
