Coba Slot Review, Demo Play, Payout, Free Spins & Bonuses

Coba is a medium volatility Mayan-themed snake slot from ELK Studios, and it plays out on a 7x7 cluster pays grid with avalanche wins. Winning symbols are collected in the 4-tier Snake Meter, and this can unleash up to 6 snakes at the same time. They move around eating matching symbols to grow, while generating/doubling multiplier wilds when they cross. This can lead to payouts up to 25,000x your stake, and our full review is available below the demo game.

Coba Review

Coba is the name of an ancient Mayan city that is located between two massive lakes in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, and it also means “waters stirred by the wind”. ELK has clearly done their homework for this release, and Coba slot is also inspired by the Mayan snake god Quetzalcoatl. Snakes is what this game is all about, and up to 6 of them can crawl around at the same time.

Removed winning symbols are collected in the Snake Meter, and the more you win the more snakes are unleashed to wreak havoc in lucrative ways. The snakes grow by eating matching symbols, and they also generate and double wild multipliers for massive wins up to 25,000x your stake. The gravity mechanic has been implemented in this release as well, and the overall presentation is stunning.

Coba Slot Features

You win by landing 5 to 15+ matching symbols in a cluster anywhere on the grid (as long as the symbols touch). The premiums pay between 15 and 500 x your stake for a 15+ symbols win, and winning symbols are removed from the grid. This allows new and/or existing symbols to tumble down via the avalanche/gravity mechanic, and the process repeats as long as you keep winning.

All winning symbols are collected in the Snake Meter seen on the right-hand side.

The Snake Meter has 4 different levels, and the Snake feature is unleashed when you trigger at least the first possible level. This is done by landing enough winning symbols in the same avalanche sequence to fill the meter once, and this gives you a single snake. Fill the meter 2, 3 and 4 times in the same sequence however, and you’ll unleash 2, 3 and 6 snakes, respectively.

The snakes move around the grid with a body that’s at least 5 symbols long, and they can create wins on their own or become part of larger clusters. The snake grows when they eat symbols that match their own, and they die if they don’t find a symbol to eat. This means that the snake is removed, and snakes also die if the head crashes into its own body.

When 2 snakes move across each other neither of them die however, and instead an x2 multiplier wild is created in the intersecting position.

If a snake moves across a wild multiplier position, the multiplier is doubled. If more than one multiplier wild is part of the same winning cluster, the respective multiplier values are multiplied together before being applied.

The X-iter feature buy menu comes with 5 options this time, but this menu is not available in all jurisdictions and not for UK players for sure. Here’s an overview:

  • Pray to Quetzalcoatl – pay 2x your stake to get 3 snakes when reaching level 1 and 2.
  • Viper Active - pay 10x your stake to activate 1 snake at level 1.
  • Boa Constrictor - pay 25x your stake for a longer snake at starting level 1.
  • Quetzalcoatl - pay 100x your stake to start at level 1 with 3 snakes, and get 3 snakes if you reach level 2.
  • Coba - pay 500x your stake to start at level 4 with 6 snakes unleashed.

The 200 Spins Coba Slot Experience

Review Summary

It doesn’t matter if the Mayan-theme is overused when you’re able to make it your own like ELK so masterfully has done in Coba. The overall audiovisual presentation is oozing quality from every pore, and we like how they’ve casually implemented the gravity mechanic without making a big deal out of it. Each spin is a joy to behold, and we haven’t even started on the snakes yet.

A bonus round is hardly missed when you level up to get multiple snakes crawling around, and the wild multipliers they produce can do serious damage. The solid 25,000x potential is only beaten by Nitropolis 3 in ELK’s lineup, and you get medium volatility to keep you afloat. The 95 % RTP is the only drawback really, and this is a top notch release we’ll definitely return to for more.

  • Removed winning symbols are collected
  • Get 1, 2, 3 and 6 snakes via the 4-tier Snake Meter
  • Snakes come with random matching symbols
  • Crossing snakes generate/double wild multipliers
  • Win up to 25,000x your stake

Cons

  • 95 % RTP is a bit below average

Azticons Chaos Clusters - is an Aztec-inspired Quickspin release that plays out on a 7x7 cluster pays grid. The turning twins modifier may prolong tumbling win sequences, and the bonus round comes with a progressive win multiplier with no upper limit. This can lead to payouts up to 25,000x your stake.

Anaconda Uncoiled - is installment number 3 in Playtech’s snake-inspired series, and this Mayan-themed release is all about the Wild Respins feature. The snake moves around creating wilds, until it eventually closes the loop by returning to the starting position. This creates a climactic wild explosion, and you can win up to 1,729x your stake.
