1942 Sky Warrior Slot Review, Demo Play, Payout, Free Spins & Bonuses

1942 Sky Warrior is a volatile WW2 aviator slot from Red Tiger, and it plays out on 5x4 reels with 30 paylines. Wilds involved in premium symbol wins upgrade the symbol value, while wilds involved in low-pay symbol wins remove all instances of the symbol to trigger a cascade. Both of these modifiers permanently affect symbols in the bonus round, and you can win up to 999x your stake. Check our full review below, and test the free demo game.

1942 Sky Warrior Review

There are plenty of slots with a Military theme out there, but not all that many that focus on World War 2. 1942 Sky Warrior is a visually pleasing aviator release from Red Tiger, but it’s unfortunately shamed by a very below par 999x potential. Wannabe pilots might not care too much about that, but it’s enough to ruin an otherwise decent experience in our humble opinion.

The reels are set in front of a plane in flight, and they are filled with 4 male and 1 female pilot symbols. You get decorated royals as well, and wilds involved in a win either upgrade symbol values (high pay) or remove all instances of a symbol (low pay). These modifications are permanent in the bonus round, and this is where you’re most likely to land bigger wins. The theme makes this one worth a whirl or two, but it’s not for punters looking for high rewards.

1942 Sky Warrior Slot Features

The 5 pilot character/premium symbols pay between 1.8 and 6 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and their value is increased to 4 to 20 x your stake when upgraded via the features we’ll discuss below. Wilds step in for all regular pay symbols to help complete winning combos, and they also trigger different features when part of a win.

You can land up to 2 wilds per spin, and when they’re part of a low-value symbol winning combination all instances of that symbol are removed from the grid.

New and/or existing symbols then cascade down to fill the gaps. When wilds are part of a premium symbol win, the involved high-value symbol is upgraded. The payout is summed up after the value upgrade. If both low and high value symbols are involved in a wild win, the high pay symbol is upgraded first, before the low pay symbol instances are removed.

The Bonus Round is triggered when you land 3 scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5 at the same time, and this awards 10 free spins. You’re guaranteed to land at least 1 wild symbol per free spin, and you get +5 extra spins when you land 3 scatters during the feature.

All wild features that trigger during the bonus round remain active for the duration of the feature. Low pay symbols are thus permanently removed, while high pay symbols are permanently upgraded.

The 200 Spins 1942 Sky Warrior Slot Experience

We got plenty of near-miss teasers as we grinded along in the base game, and the bonus round is finally triggered at 1:37 into the 3:52-minute highlights video. We managed to remove quite a few low pay symbols, and you can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.

Review Summary

The WW2 pilot theme is certainly original, and we wish Red Tiger would come to their senses when it comes to math models and potentials. We don’t get why they would ruin an otherwise solid release with a weak 999x potential combined with medium to high volatility. 1942 Sky Warrior encourages you to “bring your ace game!”, but this encouragement ironically seems lost on the developer themselves.

With a 5,000x potential this release would have been solid, and you need to be really into the theme to enjoy a game with such a butchered math model. The Wild symbol removal and symbol upgrade features are clever enough, and it all comes together nicely in the bonus round. At least the top-tier 96 % RTP is higher than what we’re used to from Red Tiger, so it seems they’re learning slowly, but surely.

Pros

  • Wild symbol removal and upgrade features
  • FS w/ permanent symbol upgrade/removal
  • Somewhat unique WW2 pilot theme

Cons

  • The 999x potential is a turd in the punch bowl
  • Beware of adjustable RTP ranges

The volatility is high, and you can win up to a solid 55,200x your stake.

Top Gun - is a branded release from Playtech, and it’s based around the classic 80s movie with Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer in leading roles. The soundtrack alone makes this game worthwhile, and the Dogfight Wilds feature brings up to 15 wilds onto the grid. The Danger Zone bonus round comes with extra wilds, and you can win up to 1,500x your stake.

Kaiser - is a cartoonish WW1 slot from Peter & Sons, and it takes you right into the trenches on the German side of the western front. The loyal soldier, Hans Schultz, is by your side through the shellshock assaults, and you can look forward to random wild multipliers and a roaming multiplier wild bonus round. This can lead to payouts up to 2,333x your stake.
