We gave Yggdrasil Master, Hot Rise Games, credit for being creative with their debut release, Legion Hot 1, although the gameplay came across as a bit too awkward for our taste. Medusa Hot 1 is more streamlined in that sense, and the budding developer have completely shifted gears into a highly volatile math model with a solid 7,500x potential.

The dark/grey color scheme is not exactly mood lifting, but fans of role-playing ‘dungeon & dragons style’ video games will probably feel right at home. The Mystery Respin feature is mostly there to break up the grind, and award occasional top-up wins in the base game. Walking through the FS character trail, that leads to the climactic Hot 1 medusa wild final spin, was a surprisingly tense and fun experience however, and it’s well worth checking out.

Review Summary

Medusa Hot 1 is definitely a big step in the right direction compared to the somewhat clumsy debut release from Hot Rise Games.

We like how the base game Mystery Respin feature keeps you guessing, although it seldom makes a huge impact. The RPG-style visual presentation will probably please some players, but we find the color scheme to be a bit too dominated by grey/dark shades.

The characters come alive nicely during win animations though, and the bonus round is usually a tense experience leading up to what can be a very exciting and lucrative climax to the tune of 7,500x your stake. We like the certainty of having to move through all premium symbols, combined with the uncertainty of how many extra spins and extra sticky bonus symbols you can rack up towards the Hot 1 Wild final spin(s).
