RIP City Review
It’s not all that hard to imagine Tom & Jerry ending up living the rough street life as out-of-work alcoholic actors once their popularity dwindled. A back alley in RIP City seems like a perfect setting for such a scenario, but we have no idea if this was what Hacksaw had in mind when creating this game. Still, you get to meet Maxx the Mouse and Ro$$ the Cat, and the latter plays an important part as the jaw-dropping wild in all stages of the game.
The slapstick visuals and soundtrack is only accentuated by the semi black and white presentation, and the cat and mouse might even become friends if you land large enough payouts. With both “RIP” and “City” in the title, we cannot help but speculate if there is some kind of NoLimit City pun involved here, but it’s far from obvious. Both bonus rounds can be entertaining when things go your way, and the 12,500x potential is solid for a medium volatile installment (still not a cake walk, just to be clear).

The Cat Wild lands as a 1x1-sized symbol, and the cat’s jaw drops to the bottom of the grid if this means that the wild will be part of at least one winning combo.
All positions affected by the jaw drop become wild, and you can only land one cat wild per reel. If the jaw drop expansion overlays a regular wild, the expanded cat wild is upgraded with a multiplier of x2 to x200. Values are combined if more than one multiplier wild is part of the same win.The Ro$$ Bonus Round triggers from 3 FS scatters in view, and this gives you 10 free spins. Your likelihood of landing expanding cat wild and regular wild symbols is increased throughout the feature, and you win +4 extra spins from 3 FS scatters on the same free spin. You can get the higher-tier Maxx Bonus feature as the Ro$$ Bonus ends, if, and only if, you land exactly 4 scatters on the same free spin.
You are guaranteed at least 10 free spins if you upgrade. The Maxx Bonus requires 4 FS scatters to land in the base game to trigger, and this awards 10 free spins. Any cat wild symbol that lands activates the relevant reel, and this guarantees a new cat wild per activated reel for each new free spins for the duration of the bonus round. You win +4 extra spins from 3 FS scatters also during this bonus round.

Review Summary
Not every release can be from the top shelf, not even if your name is NoLimit City, which this Hacksaw release is most likely poking fun at. The brawling slapstick cat and mouse theme is a somewhat effective pun at that, perhaps indicating that a certain studio should brighten up once in a while, and display a “light side” like Hacksaw does. It’s not the best release we’ve seen from Hacksaw, however, but certainly not the worst either.
The math model is above average actually, so which is a good selling point. You get medium volatility combined with a higher than usual 12,500x potential, although “medium” comes across as pretty brutal at times. The jaw-dropping moments are few and far between in the base game, at least figuratively speaking, as you will need the rare solid multiplier to make a dent. The top-tier bonus round can be far more lucrative in that regard, but it can also be over before a single reel has been activated. Fans of Hacksaw will probably enjoy this, and it has a kind of guilty pleasure vibe hanging over it.
Pros
- Expanding wilds w/ up to x200 multipliers
- FS w/ higher hit rate of expanding wilds
- Top-tier FS w/ cat wild reels activation
- Win up to 12,500x your stake
Cons
- Beware of adjustable RTP ranges
